Investing in Wharncliffe: A Community Office and Improvements to Better Serve Tenants

At London & Middlesex Community Housing (LMCH), we are committed to maintaining our buildings, investing in our communities and making it easier for tenants to access the support they need.

Our new Wharncliffe Community Office is one part of that commitment. Alongside improvements to our buildings, the office gives tenants a more convenient way to connect with LMCH staff and access services closer to home.

A community office closer to home

London and Middlesex County cover a large geographical area. Having community offices in different parts of the city helps bring LMCH services closer to the tenants we serve.

The Wharncliffe Community Office provides tenants with a local place to:

  • Make rent payments.
  • Submit work orders and maintenance requests.
  • Share tenant concerns with LMCH staff.
  • Submit annual review documentation.
  • Drop off documents for scanning and processing.

Having staff present in the community creates more opportunities for tenants to connect with LMCH, ask questions and get help navigating our services.

The office is not just a new location. It is part of our ongoing effort to make our services more accessible and responsive to the needs of our tenants.

Investing in the Wharncliffe buildings
Our commitment to 345 and 349 Wharncliffe extends beyond the new community office. We are also investing in the buildings themselves to improve the living environment and support the long-term maintenance of our housing.

Recent and ongoing improvements include:

Hallways and doors
We have refreshed the hallways and doors in our buildings with a fresh coat of paint, helping improve the appearance of shared spaces and creating a more welcoming environment for tenants.

Elevator modernization
We are in the process of completely replacing the elevator systems in both Wharncliffe buildings. This is a significant investment in the buildings' infrastructure and the reliability of an important service for tenants.

In-house cleaning staff
We have brought cleaning staff in-house, giving LMCH more direct oversight of cleaning in our buildings. This helps us stay closer to the day-to-day condition of our shared spaces and identify opportunities for improvement.

Parking lot repairs
We have also completed parking lot repairs to improve the condition of the property and support a safer, more functional environment for tenants and visitors.

New affordable housing
From 2023 to 2025, we introduced 51 Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) units. These additions contribute to the availability of affordable housing in our communities.

Looking at the bigger picture
These improvements are about more than individual projects. They are part of our broader responsibility as a landlord to maintain our buildings, invest in their long-term needs and provide tenants with reliable, accessible services.

A community office helps make it easier for tenants to connect with us. Building improvements help support the condition, functionality and comfort of the places tenants call home. Together, these investments reflect our commitment to serving tenants both through our services and through the homes and communities we manage.

Continuing to invest in our communities
Our work at Wharncliffe is part of an ongoing commitment to improving the tenant experience across London and Middlesex County.

Construction is also underway on our second Reimagine Southdale building, which will include a new LMCH community office once completed. This will provide another opportunity to bring LMCH services closer to tenants and strengthen our presence in the communities we serve.

We look forward to continuing this work and building on the improvements underway across LMCH.
